Creative director and founder of Transmission design studio in Brighton (UK).
For the past fifteen years, Stuart has worked as an art director and graphic designer with prestigious publishers and lifestyle brands. His career started at the iconic style magazine Sleazenation, where he was part of the award winning design team, and he later joined the Independent on Saturday Magazine and Esquire.
He has since collaborated with numerous design studios, brands and global publishers to create customer titles for TagHeuer, Schweppes, Moët & Chandon, French Connection and Jazeera Airways.
Stuart has authored two visual culture books that combine his passion for music, design and publishing. His first title, Collector’s Edition: Innovative Packaging and Graphics, published by Thames & Hudson, is a celebration for the new wave of special, limited and deluxe edition graphic design created for the music, book and magazine industry. In 2014 he curated the Collector’s Edition ‘Artist Cover Bomb’ series, which saw him collaborate with Sir Paul McCartney, Nick Cave, Stanley Donwood, and more, to raise funds for The Alzheimers Society. The project was celebrated in the design press, including in-depth interviews with Stuart by Wired Japan and Monocle radio.
In 2010, after a year travelling the world, Stuart founded Transmission. When not in the studio he lectures in graphic design, at the University of Brighton.
